Hi! My name is Camille. I use she/her pronouns and I am an undergraduate student (at the time of writing this, I only have a couple weeks left of my first year!)
These next 4 3 years I will be focus on indulging myself in as much learning as possible, exploring my writing style and want I want my writing to mean through assignments and close work with my talented professors, challenge my perception of storytelling and why I do it, and sharing my writing as much as possible.
I self-published a novel my junior year of high school, and this experience brought up many questions for me: how does this represent who I am and who I want to become? What do I want to write going forward? Do I want to continue to self-publish or explore traditional publishing? All of these questions have made a perfect nest in the tree that is my other contemplations, so I ask that my readers (friends, family, strangers) remain patient to see what I create over the next few years.
I also write poetry, some published, some waiting for a response, and some still drafts. I also do article writing in various contexts: freelance, intern, or club work. I always have a writing project, I’m always dreaming of getting my words out there, and I hope that as I explore myself my writing can still make a difference.
This substack specifically will be a more raw, honest telling of my writing goals. I’ve accepted that as I evolve, so will my writing: some you will love it and some you will detest it, but I refuse to quit writing while I explore my identity. Perhaps I will speak creatively about my goals, share poems that I can’t understand why they got rejected, or write a serious update that I’m officially a famous author.
Welcome to the archive! I hope you enjoy your stay :)
